Patton makes major league debut for Astros

HOUSTON (Ticker) - Lefthander Troy Patton will be making his major league debut for the Houston Astros during the second game of a weekend series against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday.

Recalled on Friday, Patton (0-0) went 4-2 with a 4.59 ERA through eight starts with Class AAA Round Rock. The 21-year-old could be a possible answer for manager Phil Garner as a replacement for struggling starter Jason Jennings.

While Houston goes with the youth movement, Pittsburgh counters with veteran Matt Morris (7-8, 4.51 ERA), who hopes to earn his first victory since June 11.

The 33-year-old righthander went 6 2/3 innings, yielding two runs and seven hits for a no-decision at Coors Field in a 4-2 extra-inning win against Colorado on Monday.

In Friday's series opener, Adam LaRoche drove in four runs and sparked a huge 15th-inning rally as the Pirates posted an 8-3 victory for their sixth win in seven outings.
