Bonds goes for No. 762, Giants look for sixth straight
Aug 27, 2007 - 1:43 PM Colorado (67-63) at San Francisco (59-72) 10:15 pm EDTSAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) -- Barry Bonds lead the San Francisco Giants into the opener of a three-game series against the Colorado Rockies on Monday.
Bonds has hits in six of his last seven games, blasting three home runs over that stretch. The seven-time MVP has 761 career homers.
Barry Zito (9-11, 4.74 ERA) will take the mound for the Giants, who have scored 26 runs over their current four-game winning streak. The lefthander has surrendered just two runs and six hits with 12 strikeouts over 15 innings in his last two starts.
The Rockies will counter with Josh Fogg (7-9, 5.27), who is coming off his worst outing of the season. The Florida alum was tagged for eight runs, 11 hits and four homers over three innings in an 11-2 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday.
Colorado has won three straight games, climbing into a tie for third in the National League West, 6 1/2 games behind the Arizona Diamondbacks (74-57).
