Blue Jays eye sweep of A's

OAKLAND, California (Ticker) - With their eye on completing their first three-game road sweep of the season, the Toronto Blue Jays meet the Oakland Athletics in the series finale on Wednesday.

Outside of a two-game sweep in Boston in April, the Blue Jays have been unable sweep an opponent away from the Rogers Centre this season. In fact, this is the first time all season they have taken the first two games of any road series that went three games or longer.

Roy Halladay (14-6, 3.86 ERA) will make his third attempt to become the sixth American League pitcher to reach the 15-win club. In his last outing on Friday - a 3-0 setback against the Angels - the righthander took the loss as he allowed three runs and 12 hits over eight frames.

While Halladay is 4-4 in his 10 career starts against the Athletics, he has struggled keeping them in check with 5.55 ERA.

Lenny DiNardo (8-7, 3.57) looks to end the month with a positive outing after struggling on Friday - his first rough start in August. He surrendered six runs and eight hits over just two innings in a 12-2 loss against Tampa Bay, this after going 3-0 with a 3.24 ERA in his first four turns this month.

In nine appearances - two starts - against the Blue Jays, the lefthander is 0-2 with a 10.38 ERA.
