White Sox look to end road blues vs. Rangers

ARLINGTON, Texas (Ticker) - In what has been a terrible season for the Chicago White Sox, perhaps their recent road woes are the most startling. On Thursday, they look to halt those struggles when they conclude their three-game set with the Texas Rangers.

Since winning in Detroit on August 5, the White Sox have lost eight straight away from home, including three-game sweeps at Oakland and Seattle and two losses to begin this series. Five of those losses have been by one run and another setback would match the team's worst road skid in over 30 years.

Overall, the White Sox have lost 15 of 18 and stand in last place in the American League Central, 18 1/2 games behind division-leader Cleveland (75-57).

John Danks (6-12, 5.51 ERA), the Rangers' first-round pick in 2003, will be facing his original team for the first time. He looks to snap a six-game losing streak over his last seven starts.

The lefthander suffered his fifth loss in as many outings on Friday when he surrendered five runs and five hits in just 3 1/3 innings in a 10-1 setback against the Boston Red Sox.

Kevin Millwood (8-11, 5.31) will be looking for his first career win in seven starts against the White Sox despite maintaining a 2.31 ERA. He saw a streak of three strong starts come to an end with Friday's 4-2 loss against Seattle.

The righthander allowed four runs and 13 hits in that game, putting an end to a stretch that he went 1-1 with a 2.25 ERA.
