Brewers aim to continue strong play at Miller Park
Sep 1, 2007 - 2:31 PM Pittsburgh (59-75) at Milwaukee (67-67), 7:05 pm EDTMILWAUKEE (Ticker) - It appears that if the Milwaukee Brewers are going to make the playoffs this season, it will happen in large part due to their play at home.
They look to continue their strong play at Miller Park when they continue their three-game set against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday.
The Brewers, who are a National League-best 41-25 at home, have won two of three at Miller Park after losing their previous five games there.
Corey Hart helped ensure the 3-2 win over the Pirates on Friday when he went 2-for-3 and drove in a pair of runs for Milwaukee, which closed to within 1 1/2 games of the NL Central-leading Chicago Cubs (68-65).
Dave Bush (10-9, 4.96 ERA) will target his first win against the Pirates. In three starts and one relief appearance against the Pirates over his career, he is 0-3 with a 5.85 ERA.
The righthander did not record a decision in his last start on Sunday, surrendering four runs and six hits over 6 1/3 innings in a 5-4 loss to the Giants.
The Pirates will answer with Shane Youman (3-4, 5.59), who would like to end Pittsburgh's three-game skid. He has made four relief appearances since his last start, an outing in which he took the loss on August 13 when he allowed five runs and four hits over six frames in a 10-3 loss to the Giants.
In his only career start against the Brewers, the lefthander yielded two runs over six innings in his season debut to get the decision in the Pirates' 6-2 win.
