Diamondbacks' offense look to keep rolling vs. Rockies

Sep 2, 2007 - 3:00 PM Colorado (69-66) at Arizona (76-61) 4:40 pm EDT

PHOENIX (Ticker) - The Arizona Diamondbacks look to build on an offensive breakthrough in the rubber game of a three-game series with the Colorado Rockies on Sunday.

Arizona, which is in a virtual tie for first place in the National League West with the San Diego Padres despite being outscored by 35 runs on the season, exploded for a season high-tying 13 runs on Saturday.

Tony Clark homered and tied a career high with five RBI as the Diamondbacks posted a 13-7 win to remain tied for first place with the Padres (75-60). The Diamondbacks already matched last season's win total.

Brandon Webb (14-9, 2.83 ERA), who has not needed much runs support, will try and bounce back from his worst start in over two months. The reigning NL Cy Young Award winner had won six straight before being pounded for six runs and seven hits in 5 1/3 innings of a 6-4 loss to San Diego on Tuesday.

Webb, who racked up 42 consecutive scoreless innings from the end of July to the middle of August, suffered his worst start since allowing seven runs and six hits in five innings against the Baltimore Orioles on June 22.

Josh Fogg (7-9, 5.10) gets the ball for Colorado (69-66), which trails San Diego and Arizona by six games in the NL West.

Fogg, who is winless in his last three starts, allowed one run and three hits in six innings, but did not factor into a 4-1 loss to the San Francisco Giants on Monday.
