Last-place Rangers look to stay hot vs. Royals

ARLINGTON, Texas (Ticker) - Despite being in last place, the Texas Rangers have to feel pretty good about themselves as they open a three-game series with the Kansas City Royals on Monday.

Hank Blalock blasted a go-ahead grand slam in the eighth inning and C.J. Wilson survived the ninth, as the Rangers posted a 8-7 victory over the American League West-leading Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Sunday.

It was the first game back for Blalock, who missed the last three months after shoulder surgery. His return gave a boost to the Rangers, who have won seven of their last eight games.

Kameron Loe (6-10, 5.35 ERA) takes the mound for the Rangers. The righthander has been struggling, going 1-4 over his last eight starts.

Kansas City, which lost three of four over the weekend to Minnesota, sends Zack Greinke (5-5, 4.07) to the mound. In his second start since returning to the rotation, the righthander worked four scoreless innings in his last outing against Detroit on Wednesday.
