Crawford looks to lead Devil Rays to third straight win

ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (Ticker) -- Carl Crawford will hope to help the suddenly surging Tampa Bay Devil Rays get their third consecutive victory when they host the Baltimore Orioles in the second of a three-game series on Tuesday.

Crawford had his 11-game hitting streak snapped in Monday's 9-7 triumph over the Orioles after being ejected in the third inning for arguing a questionable call at first base. Replays showed that Baltimore first baseman Kevin Millar's foot was pulled off the bag.

Crawford went 18-for-51 (.353) with 11 runs scored, 10 RBI and six stolen bases over his hitting streak. The 26-year-old speedster leads the American League with 46 stolen bases.

Tampa Bay will send lefthander Scott Kazmir (11-8, 3.74 ERA) to the mound. The 23-year-old ace posted a 4-1 record with a 3.35 ERA in six starts during the month of August.

The Orioles will counter with Jeremy Guthrie (7-5, 3.62), who was winless in his six starts in August. Baltimore went 0-6 during the month when the righthander took the hill.

The Orioles have struggled recently, losing their last three contests and 12 of their last 13.
