Orioles target series win over Devil Rays

ST. PETERSBURG, Florida (Ticker) - Optimism has been hard to come by lately for the Baltimore Orioles. On Wednesday, they search for back-to-back wins for the first time in just under three weeks when they face the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in the rubber game in a three-game series.

Aubrey Huff, who has hit 15 home runs this season, haunted his former team once again as he belted his seventh homer of the campaign against the Devil Rays in an 8-4 win on Tuesday. The win was just Baltimore's second in its last 14 games.

The Orioles will turn to rookie Radhames Liz (0-1, 7.00 ERA), who will meet the Devil Rays for the first time in just his third career start. He left after three innings and 72 pitches in his last turn on Friday - a 9-8 win over Boston on Friday. He permitted two runs and four hits with three walks.

The Devil Rays will counter with fellow rookie Andy Sonnanstine (4-9, 5.88), who has caught fire of late. After starting the season with a 2-9 record and a 6.53 ERA through 15 starts, the 24-year-old has found a groove over his last two outings, going 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA.

This two-game streak includes an eight-inning gem against the New York Yankees on Friday in which he yielded an unearned run and two hits, striking out five. His luck against the Orioles, however, has not been near as good, as the righthander has lost both of his starts against them this season.
