Rangers look for series victory vs. Royals

ARLINGTON, Texas (Ticker) - The Texas Rangers will look for a series victory on Wednesday when they take on the Kansas City Royals in the rubber game of the three-game series.

The Rangers claimed a 9-8 victory on Tuesday after dropping the opener, 8-1. Monday's defeat snapped a five-game home winning streak, but Texas has been hot of late, winning eight of its last 10 contests.

Vicente Padilla (4-9, 3.36 ERA) takes the hill for the Rangers, who have given him nearly six runs of support a start.

The 29-year-old Padilla has faced the Royals once this season, holding them scoreless over five innings, but not factoring in a 4-3 win on August 15.

Kyle Davies (2-3, 6.75) will look for back-to-back wins for the first time since being acquired from the Atlanta Braves at the trade deadline. Davies allowed three runs - two earned - and four hits over five innings en route to a 9-4 victory of the Minnesota Twins on Friday.

The Royals are 3-3 on a seven-game road trip.
