Indians look to split series vs. Angles

ANAHEIM, California (Ticker) -- The Cleveland Indians try to gain a split of a four-game series against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Sunday.

C.C. Sabathia carried a shutout into the eighth inning before settling for his fourth complete game as the Indians coasted to a 6-1 win on Saturday.

Rookie Aaron Laffey (2-1, 5.93 ERA) gets his sixth career start for Cleveland, which holds a five-game lead over Detroit (77-65) in the American League Central.

Since his two-game winning streak in August, the lefthander has failed to win a decision in his pervious starts. Last time out, Laffey allowed five runs in four frames at Minnesota on Monday.

Anaheim's Jered Weaver (11-6, 3.76) goes in search of his fourth consecutive victory. The 24-year-old righthander allowed just four runs over this stretch - spanning 20 innings.

Weaver picked up his first career win in the series on May 9, when he gave up two run through six innings of a 3-2 triumph over Detroit. He is 1-0 in three lifetime starts.
