Saunders, Angels look to snap skid vs. Orioles

BALTIMORE (Ticker) -- A trip to Baltimore should help the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim avoid their longest losing streak in nearly two months.

Anaheim looks to snap a two-game skid in the opener of a three-game series with the lowly Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday.

The Angels, who lost the final two games to the American League Central Division-leading Cleveland Indians over the weekend, have not lost three straight since July 15-18.

Having Joe Saunders (7-3, 3.78 ERA) on the hill doesn't provide much hope. However, the fact that the Orioles have lost 16 of their last 19 games does.

Saunders, who is winless in his last three starts, gets the ball Tuesday for Anaheim, which leads the Seattle Mariners (75-67) by 8 1/2 games in the AL West.

Saunders allowed four runs and seven hits in six innings of a 6-2 loss to Oakland on Wednesday.

Baltimore counters with Victor Santos (1-4, 5.14), who has worked in the bullpen for the whole season and will make his first start.
