Kim, Ramirez look to give Marlins series win

Sep 12, 2007 - 1:18 PM Washington (65-80) at Florida (62-83) 1:05 pm EDT

MIAMI (Ticker) -- Byung-Hyun Kim looks to win his third straight start and help the Florida Marlins to a series win over the Washington Nationals in the rubber game of a three-game series on Wednesday.

Hanley Ramirez homered twice and drove in three runs while finishing a triple shy of the cycle as the Marlins snapped a three-game skid by pounding out 21 hits in a 13-8 win on Tuesday.

Ramirez would be an MVP candidate on a winning team. The second-year shortstop is hitting .328 with 26 homers 70 RBI with 46 steals and 109 runs. He has been great in 17 games against Washington, hitting .356 (26-for-73) with 14 extra-base hits.

Kim (9-6, 5.47 ERA) beat the Philadelphia Phillies twice in less than a week, allowing three runs and seven hits in six innings of a 6-3 win on Friday.

Meanwhile, Washington, which has won eight of 11, sends rookie Joel Hanrahan to the hill. Hanrahan (4-3, 5.63) allowed four runs and four hits in 3 1/3 innings of a 7-1 loss to Atlanta on Friday.
