Rockies continue playoff push against woeful Marlins

DENVER (Ticker) -- The Colorado Rockies get somewhat of a breather when they face the Florida Marlins in the opener of a three-game series Friday.

Colorado, which trails the San Diego Padres (78-67) by 2 1/2 games in the wild card race, spilt a four-game series with the Philadelphia Phillies earlier this week.

The Rockies, who have not made the playoffs since 1995, are in a four-way battle for the wild card with San Diego, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. The Phillies (77-69) and Dodgers (77-69) are both 1 1/2 games off the pace.

Josh Fogg (9-9, 4.90 ERA) gets the ball as the Rockies look to beat up on the Marlins before closing out the year against divisional rivals Los Angeles, San Diego and Arizona.

Fogg has been excellent down the stretch, going 2-0 with a 2.12 ERA in his last three starts. The righthander is 4-4 with a 3.56 ERA in 10 starts against Florida.

Winners of two straight, Florida counters with a struggling Dontrelle Willis (8-15, 5.27). Willis, who has just one win in his last 19 starts, is suffering through the worst season of his five-year career.
