Halladay looks for 15th win, Blue Jays face Orioles

Sep 15, 2007 - 1:09 PM Baltimore (63-83) at Toronto (73-74) 1:07 pm EDT

TORONTO (Ticker) - Roy Halladay looks to break back into the win column Saturday when the Toronto Blue Jays face the Baltimore Orioles in the middle game of a three-game series.

The 2003 Cy Young Award winner, Halladay (14-7, 3.91 ERA) is looking to win at least 15 games for a fourth time in his career. However, the righthander is winless in his last five starts, going 0-2 during that span.

Toronto dropped under .500 with Friday's 6-2 loss. The Blue Jays have lost six of their last seven games.

Baltimore, which has won two straight for the first time in a month, turns to Kurt Birkins (1-1, 7.27), who is starting in place of Victory Zambrano.

According to the Orioles' web site the move was made because Zambrano hasn't pitched since August 30 and only would have been able to throw 40-45 pitches.

Birkins, who is making his second start, gave up four runs and six hits in four innings in a 9-7 loss to Tampa Bay on September 3 in his only other start this season.
