Webb takes mound against Giants

PHOENIX (Ticker) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks will turn to the reigning National League Cy Young winner to help them hang on to the division lead.

Brandon Webb will look for a career-best 17th win of the season and his third straight when the Diamondbacks host the San Francisco Giants in the opener of a three-game series Monday.

Webb (16-10, 2.99 ERA) has been stellar against the Giants this season, posting a 2-0 record with a 2.57 ERA in two starts against the division foe. After an 8-8 start, the 28-year-old righthander has gone 8-2 with a 2.22 ERA in his last 10 starts.

Arizona, which has lost three of its last five, holds a two-game lead over the San Diego Padres (81-67) in the NL West.

Giants righthander Kevin Correia (4-6, 3.47) gets his sixth start of the season. The five-year veteran has won his previous three decisions and San Francisco has been victorious in his last four starts.

Home run king Barry Bonds is not likely to play after sustaining an injury to his right toe in a loss to the Padres on Saturday. Bonds, who has 762 career home runs, is batting .279 with 28 homers and 66 RBI this season.
