Sheets, Brewers look to take advantage of Astros without Oswalt
Sep 18, 2007 - 2:19 PM Milwaukee (77-72) at Houston (65-85) 8:05 pm EDTHOUSTON (Ticker) -- The Milwaukee Brewers have caught a huge break.
The Brewers have the good fortune of not having to face Houston Astros ace Roy Oswalt when the National League Central Division foes square off Tuesday.
Oswalt was scheduled to pitch for Houston but instead will be with his wife as they await the birth of their second child.
As a result the Brewers, who trail the Chicago Cubs (79-72) by one game in the NL Central, will look to beat up on rookie Felipe Paulino (0-0, 11.25 ERA), who will make his first career start.
The Brewers have the added bonus of sending ace Ben Sheets (12-5, 3.78) to the mound. Sheets is looking to rebound from his worst outing since returning from a sprained finger on his pitching hand August 29.
Sheets was roughed up for five runs and six hits in three innings of a 6-5 loss to Cincinnati on Friday.
Rookie Yovani Gallardo threw eight scoreless innings and Corey Hart drove in a pair of runs as the Brewers beat the Astros for the 12th time in 16 meetings, 6-0, on Monday.
