Royals take on White Sox in series finale

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) - Two teams at the bottom of the American League Central Division will face off when the Chicago White Sox meet the Kansas Royals in the finale of a four-game series on Thursday.

The White Sox, who have won two of the three games - including a 7-0 win on Wednesday, will try to win back-to-back series for the first time since July 23-29. Chicago took two of three from the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim at home before traveling to Kansas City.

Jon Garland (9-12, 4.47 ERA) will try to snap his two-game losing streak when he takes the mound for the White Sox.

Garland, who has lost five of his last six decisions, pitched well enough to earn a win during his last outing. The 27-year-old righthander allowed two runs - one earned - and nine hits over seven innings in a 2-1 setback to the Angels on Saturday.

The Royals will counter with Zach Greinke (6-6, 3.88), who didn't get any run support his last time out. Greinke allowed two runs - one earned - and four hits over 5 1/3 innings in a loss to the Cleveland Indians.
