Final/10
Orioles seek revenge against Rangers
Sep 20, 2007 - 1:12 PM Baltimore (64-87) at Texas (70-82) 8:05 pm EDTARLINGTON, Texas (Ticker) - After a historic defeat during their last series against the Texas Rangers, the Baltimore Orioles will look for revenge when they open a four-game set on Thursday.
The Rangers demoralized the Orioles during a 30-3 rout on August 22, setting a major-league record for most runs scored in a single game. Since that contest, Baltimore has posted an atrocious 6-21 record and has won back-to-back games just once.
Victor Zambrano (0-2, 7.98 ERA) gets the start for the Orioles.
Zambrano, who was acquired from the Pittsburgh Pirates on September 9, pitched four shutout innings of relief on Saturday. The 32-year-old righthander allowed two hits while striking out two as the Orioles suffered an 8-3 setback to the Toronto Blue Jays.
Brandon McCarthy (5-10, 5.07) will make just his third start for the Rangers on Thursday after spending nearly a month on the disabled list with a stress fracture in his right shoulder blade.
McCarthy, who hasn't recorded a victory since July 31, was limited to just three innings and 52 pitches in his last start against the Oakland Athletics. The 24-year-old righthander allowed two runs and three hits, suffering the loss as the Rangers were downed, 7-3, on Saturday.
