Wright, Mets look to continues success in Florida

MIAMI (Ticker) - The New York Mets hope their trip to Florida goes better than their visit to the nation's capital.

David Wright and the Mets open a four-game series with the Florida Marlins on Thursday.

The Mets snapped a five-game skid, and avoided a three-game sweep as Wright drove in three runs in a 8-4 win over the Washington Nationals on Wednesday. New York holds a 2 1/2 -ame lead over the Philadelphia Phillies (82-70) in the National League East.

The Mets were swept by the Phillies over the weekend and hoped to rebound against the Nationals, but they blew four-run leads in each of the first two games.

Now they turn their attention to the Marlins, who they have beaten all five meetings here this season. However, the Mets may struggle against Dontrelle Willis, who is 11-3 with a 2.39 ERA in 17 starts against them.

Willis (9-15, 5.34 ERA) picked up his first win in 20 starts on Friday. The lefthander was not sharp, allowing five runs and seven hits in six innings of a 7-6 win over Colorado.

Tom Glavine (13-6, 3.68), who is unbeaten in his last 10 starts, gets the ball for the Mets. Glavine is 2-0 with a 1.30 ERA in his last four starts, but is just 7-13 with a 4.33 ERA in 23 starts here.

Mets outfielder Moises Alou will be looking to extend his career-best hitting streak to 24 games. Alou is playing with a strained left quadriceps muscle he injured on Tuesday.
