Brewers aim for second straight win over lowly Cardinals

MILWAUKEE (Ticker) - The Milwaukee Brewers are fighting to keep their fleeting playoff hopes alive. Facing the lowly St. Louis Cardinals at home cannot hurt.

The Brewers continue a three-game series against the Cardinals on Sunday.

Milwaukee, which trails the Chicago Cubs (83-73) by three games in the National League Central with six games left, improved to a NL-best 48-27 at home after Monday's 13-5 drubbing of St. Louis.

Prince Fielder hit his NL-leading 48th home run and rookie Ryan Braun hit his 33rd in Monday's win.

Jeff Suppan (10-12, 4.72 ERA) will look to beat his former team and help the Brewers move closer to their first playoff appearance since winning the American League Central in 1982. Suppan, who helped the Cardinals to a World Series title last season, has just two wins in his last 16 starts.

Meanwhile, St. Louis has lost 15 of 18 and will counter with Braden Looper (12-11, 4.67), who is winless in his last three starts after being rocked for five runs and nine hits in 5 2/3 innings of a 18-1 loss to Houston on Thursday.
