MLB Note - Chicago Cubs Arrieta, Jake
Jul 27, 2017 - 7:28 AM RHP Jake Arrieta allowed just two hits over 6 2/3 innings and didn't allow a hit until allowed a one-out double in the fifth inning. Arrieta's no-hit stretch Wednesday was the longest such stretch since Oct. 26, 2016, against the Cleveland Indians in the World Series. Over his last five starts, Arrieta has gone 3-1 with a 2.25 ERA. Wednesday night was Arrieta's 11th quality start of the year and his fifth in his last eight games. "I thought he had much better fastball command," manager Joe Maddon said. "Overall, I thought he pitched well -- it looked more effortless and the ball was going where he wanted it to go which is always a good thing."No one has shouted yet.
