MLB Note - Detroit Tigers Zimmermann, Jordan
Jul 29, 2017 - 8:20 AM RHP Jordan Zimmermann danced around danger Friday night and left after seven innings holding a 5-3 lead. He gave up six hits with no walks in his seven innings and although his pitch count was only at 80, he would have been going through the Astros' batting order for the fourth time had he gone out for the eighth. "He was going to be going through the lineup for the fourth time and those guys had hit him pretty hard," manager Brad Ausmus said. "The pitch count wasn't an issue, and if he had been facing the bottom of the order, I probably would have left him out there, but my gut said I didn't want him to face the top of the order a fourth time." RHP Bruce Rondon gave up three straight hits, the last a home run that wiped out the lead.No one has shouted yet.
