MLB Note - Colorado Rockies Estevez, Carlos
Aug 15, 2017 - 9:11 AM RHP Carlos Estevez was optioned to Triple-A Albuqerque. In seven stints with the Rockies this season, he is 5-0 with a 6.53 ERA in 21 games with eight walks and 19 strikeouts in 20 2/3 innings. Estevez made three scoreless appearances totaling four innings in his most recent stint with the Rockies, which began Aug. 5. Late last month when he was last optioned to Albuquerque, Estevez said he went back to a modified leg kick _ the coaches scrapped his high leg kick in spring training _ and simply took a stride toward the plate. "Some stuff doesn't connect with me," Estevez said. "It was time to go back to what I know how to do. I have better command of all my pitches. The slider is sharper, the change is better and I was able to keep attacking. I feel really good. I felt I was blowing people away with my fastball. That was a big problem the first half. I was getting too many fouls with my fastball, because it was flat. Now I found my (downhill) angle, I found my spot."No one has shouted yet.
