Yankees RHP Cessa placed on DL
Aug 15, 2017 - 9:54 PM The New York Yankees placed right-hander Luis Cessa on the 10-day disabled list Tuesday with a ribcage injury.Cessa has appeared in 10 games, making five starts, for New York this season. He was 0-3 with a 4.75 ERA, including 4 1/3 innings of two-run ball against the New York Mets on Monday.
The 25-year-old Cessa started nine of 17 games with the Yankees in 2016, logging a 4-4 record and 4.35 ERA.
In a corresponding move, New York recalled left-hander Caleb Smith from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Smith, 26, made three appearances (two starts) for the Yankees over a two-week span last month, going 0-1 with a 7.20 ERA. He failed to pitch beyond 3 2/3 innings in any of his outings.
