Aug 16, 2017 - 11:08 AM 1B Greg Bird (right ankle bruise) will begin a second rehab assignment with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes Barre Wednesday and play five innings at DH. Manager Joe Girardi said Bird has looked "really good" during his workouts at Yankee Stadium. Bird was placed on the DL May 2 after going 6-for-60 following a torrid spring training when he hit .451 with eight homers. Bird initially injured the ankle late in spring training and underwent surgery July 18 after experiencing pain during his rehab assignment.
