MLB Note - Arizona Diamondbacks Ray, Robbie
Aug 16, 2017 - 11:08 AM LHP Robbie Ray is expected to return to the Diamondbacks' starting rotation next week if things go well in his rehab start Thursday at Class A Visalia. "It made the most sense for all of us," manager Torey Lovullo said of a rehab start. Ray, who has not pitched since being struck in the head by a line drive July 28, is targeted to throw five innings and 75 pitches. He could slot into a start on the upcoming nine-game road trip. If he pitched on the normal five days' rest, that start would come Aug. 22 at the New York Mets, the second game of a four-game series. No one has shouted yet.
