MLB Note - New York Mets d'Arnaud, Travis

Aug 17, 2017 - 8:56 AM C Travis d'Arnaud made his first professional appearance at third base Wednesday, when he started at the hot corner and went 0-for-3 with a sacrifice fly in the Mets' 5-3 loss to the Yankees. D'Arnaud, whose two starts at first base at Triple-A Las Vegas in 2012 were his only appearances at a defensive position other than catcher, actually switched between third base and second base -- technically manned by Asdrubal Cabrera -- a whopping 22 times Wednesday as manager Terry Collins tried to minimize the possibility of the ball being hit to d'Arnaud. Collins' efforts worked as d'Arnaud fielded just one chance, a popup to second in the ninth. D'Arnaud was pressed into duty when INFs Wilmer Flores and Jose Reyes were scratched Wednesday afternoon due to ribcage injuries.
