MLB Note - New York Mets Reyes, Jose
Aug 17, 2017 - 8:56 AM INF Jose Reyes (left rib cage) was a late scratch from the starting lineup Wednesday. Reyes was penciled in to play second base and bat leadoff but was replaced following batting practice. It would have been Reyes' first appearance in the leadoff spot since July 9. Fellow INF Wilmer Flores was also scratched with a left ribcage injury, which forced the Mets to start Asdrubal Cabrera at second base and give C Travis d'Arnaud his first professional start and appearance at third base. Mets manager Terry Collins said the club likely would recall at least one and maybe two infielders Thursday to safeguard itself against an extended absence for Reyes and/or Flores. Reyes is batting .223 with nine homers, 39 RBIs and a team-high 14 stolen bases in 113 games. No one has shouted yet.
