MLB Note - Toronto Blue Jays Howell, J.P.

Aug 17, 2017 - 8:55 AM LHP J.P. Howell was designated for assignment Wednesday when RHP Dominic Leone was activated from the bereavement list. Howell was 1-1 with a 7.35 ERA in 16 games with Toronto. He was on the disabled list twice with left shoulder issues April 8-24 and June 5-July 30. He is 36-30 with a 3.83 ERA and 22 saves in 547 major league games. Manager John Gibbons said it was difficult to let Howell go, but the team needed some relievers who could pitch multiple innings if required.
