MLB Note - New York Mets Familia, Jeurys

Aug 17, 2017 - 8:56 AM RHP Jeurys Familia (blood clot in right shoulder) began a rehab assignment Wednesday night, when he tossed a scoreless inning for the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Mets. Familia will need a handful of minor league appearances but is expected to rejoin the Mets sometime this month. Upon returning, Familia is expected to resume his role as the Mets' closer, a job currently filled by RHP AJ Ramos. Familia underwent surgery May 12, the same day he was placed on the 10-day disabled list, retroactive to May 11. He is 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA and three saves in 11 games this season.
