MLB Note - Boston Red Sox Pomeranz, Drew
Aug 19, 2017 - 8:31 AM LHP Drew Pomeranz left Friday night's game against the New York Yankees with back spasms, the team announced. Pomeranz, who is 6-0 in his previous 11 starts and a 12-game winner, left runners in scoring position in the first three innings. After Andrew Benintendi made a diving catch of Didi Gregorius' line drive to start the fourth, Pomeranz was pitching to Chase Headley and behind 2-0 when a meeting took place on the mound. Pomeranz, who was trying to beat the Yankees for a second straight time and was ahead 2-0, could be seen stretching. After throwing a few warmup pitches, Pomeranz was removed from the game.No one has shouted yet.
