MLB Note - San Diego Padres Renfroe, Hunter

Aug 20, 2017 - 8:20 AM RF Hunter Renfroe was optioned to Triple-A El Paso Saturday. Renfroe played in 111 of the Padres 122 games with 107 starts. He hit .230 with 20 homers and 47 RBIs. But he also had a .285 on-base percentage with 125 strikeouts in 404 at-bats. "We still think he has every opportunity to lock down the right field job for the future," said Padres manager Andy Green. "We also think there's things to work on. And we want to see the needle move. Being honest with the way this last 1 1/2 months or two months have gone, we haven't seen the needle move in the areas we've asked for it to move. At some point in time, you ask yourself 'What's the best way to help someone improve?' This is a viable option to do that."
