MLB Note - Detroit Tigers Fulmer, Michael
Aug 20, 2017 - 8:19 AM RHP Michael Fulmer pitched well Saturday, but not well enough to avoid taking his fifth straight loss in a 10-11 season. Fulmer had faced just two batters over the minimum when 3B Nicholas Castellanos dropped a LF Curtis Granderson popup on the infield that led to the winning run scoring 1B Adrian Gonzalez's ringing single to right. Fulmer was clearly perturbed by the misplay, showing it with his body language, walked the next batter and then gave up the game-deciding hit. "It was better," Fulmer said of his three-hit seven innings. "It's kind of frustrating that the seventh inning went the way that it was and honestly, it's all on the fact that as of recently, I can't make a pitch with guys in scoring position. That's on me for not making a good enough pitch." "We needed a big pitching performance from him and he gave it to us," manager Brad Ausmus said. "We just couldn't score any runs."No one has shouted yet.
