MLB Note - New York Yankees Gray, Sonny
Aug 21, 2017 - 7:06 AM RHP Sonny Gray struggled early against the Red Sox, who were patient and persistent in getting him to throw more than 20 pitches in each of the first three innings and extended the second and third innings with two-out hits. Gray entered Sunday's game having pitched at least six innings with two or fewer earned runs allowed in each of his last nine starts, the longest such streak in the American League. Although Gray was only responsible for two Red Sox runs, he departed after the fifth inning, having thrown 106 pitches. He allowed seven hits and two walks. "I thought I made some good pitches with two strikes," Gray said. "They just fouled them off. They put a lot of good at-bats together and made it pretty difficult."No one has shouted yet.
