MLB Note - Arizona Diamondbacks Tomas, Yasmany
Aug 22, 2017 - 6:55 AM OF Yasmany Tomas (core muscle) will undergo season-ending surgery Tuesday. The surgery will conclude a frustrating process for Tomas, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list June 6 (retroactive to June 3) with what was originally diagnosed as right groin tendinitis. He played in three rehab games for the rookie-level Arizona League Diamondbacks in late June before aggravating the injury, which was then diagnosed as a right groin strain. He was shifted to the 60-day disabled list July 27 but appeared to be trending towards another rehab stint before reporting more problems while trying to run the bases last week. Further testing revealed he was dealing with a core muscle injury. Tomas is expected to be ready for spring training. He batted .241 with eight homers and 32 RBIs in 47 games this season. No one has shouted yet.
