MLB Note - Cleveland Indians Kipnis, Jason
Sep 18, 2017 - 9:25 AM 2B Jason Kipnis came off the disabled list and made his first career start in center field Sunday. Kipnis, who played center field in college at Arizona State, is getting a trial in center field as a potential replacement for injured OF Bradley Zimmer. "He's a really good athlete," Indians president Chris Antonetti said. "But we want to see how comfortable he is reading the ball off the bat, if he takes good routes, and how he comes in and goes back on the ball." Kipnis played five innings Sunday and did not have a ball hit to him. He struck out in his two at-bats. He had been out since Aug. 23 with a strained right hamstring. No one has shouted yet.
