MLB Note - Cincinnati Reds Winker, Jesse
Sep 18, 2017 - 9:25 AM RF Jesse Winker has performed well in the leadoff spot with Billy Hamilton on the disabled list. However, Reds manager Bryan Price said he still likes having Hamilton's speed at the top of the order. Winker has a .365 on-base percentage while Hamilton's is .299. "You either want the speed component or the on-base component," Price said. "I think (Winker) can do it. I don't know that's exactly where I'd expect him to settle in over the course of his career. I certainly like the Billy speed component and the electricity that comes with him leading off the game and getting on." Winker went 2-for-4 with a walk and a run on Sunday. No one has shouted yet.
