Sep 19, 2017 - 8:12 AM RHP Raul Alcantara pitched 3 2/3 innings of scoreless ball in an emergency start at Detroit on Monday. He got the unexpected call after Jharel Cotton suffered a groin strain during warmups. Alcantara had only made two relief appearances since his September callup. "I was going inning by inning," he said through an interpreter. "Pitching one inning at a time and see how far I could go. It felt really good to throw 3 2/3 innings of shutout ball."
