MLB Note - Texas Rangers Gomez, Carlos

Sep 21, 2017 - 9:27 AM CF Carlos Gomez was on the bench on Wednesday night, still nursing a right ankle sprain, and Rangers manager Jeff Banister didn't sound optimistic Gomez could do more than reserve duty anytime soon. Gomez still maintains he is really close. "He tried to argue his way into the starting lineup," Banister said, "but just based on what my eyes told me. ... He says he's better (Wednesday), but we'll see." Gomez had a pinch double on Tuesday night but stayed on the bench on Wednesday. On the season, he is hitting .253 with 17 home runs and 49 RBIs.
