MLB Note - Kansas City Royals Moustakas, Mike
Sep 21, 2017 - 9:27 AM 3B Mike Moustakas hit his 37th homer of the season in the sixth inning of the 15-5 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday to set a club record for home runs in a season. The record had been 36, set in 1985 by 1B Steve Balboni. It was the first homer since Sept. 1 for Moustakas, a span of 15 games. He had hit only one homer in his previous 28 games before Wednesday. "This is a pretty good place to hit," Moustakas said. "I knew I got it pretty good. It was a good feeling to see it go over the wall and kind of get that one off my chest. It was pretty special to be able to hit that and then come in and share that with all my teammates, all the guys I've spent 10-plus years with. It's definitely an awesome feeling and something I'm going to remember for the rest of my life. It's been a little frustrating, sometimes trying to do too much, sometimes trying to just kind of back down and figure it out." He was 3-for-4 Wednesday with a double and the homer. No one has shouted yet.
