MLB Note - New York Mets Syndergaard, Noah

Sep 23, 2017 - 8:30 AM RHP Noah Syndergaard will make his first major league appearance in almost five months Saturday night, when he will be activated from the 60-day disabled list in time to take the mound for a brief start for the Mets in the middle game of a three-game series against the Washington Nationals at Citi Field. Syndergaard, who hasn't pitched for the Mets since he tore his right lat against the Nationals after giving up five runs over 1 1/3 innings on Apr. 30, will pitch one inning before giving way to RHP Matt Harvey. This will be just the third official game appearance for Syndergaard since he was injured. He was 0-1 with a 9.00 ERA in two starts totaling three innings earlier this month for the rookie-level Gulf Coast League Mets and Single-A Brooklyn. Syndergaard threw bullpen sessions on Sept. 14 and Sept. 16 before participating in a 39-pitch simulated game on Monday. General manager Sandy Alderson said the Mets didn't know yet if Syndergaard could make one more abbreviated start during the season's final week. Syndergaard is 2-4 with a 3.60 ERA in nine career starts against the Nationals, whom he's faced more than any other opponent.
