MLB Note - Detroit Tigers Boyd, Matthew
Sep 24, 2017 - 7:45 AM LHP Matthew Boyd turned in a second straight strong outing Saturday night and it gives Detroit hopes he can be a strong member of the team's 2018 rotation. Boyd, coming off a one-hitter, worked 6 2/3 innings and allowed two runs (one earned), allowing four hits while walking two and striking out six. "He's been outstanding. He's been much better since he cleaned up his mechanics," manager Brad Ausmus said. "The last two outings have been superb. He got us deep in the game. We just had trouble getting the ball to (Shane) Greene. He's got a great attitude for the game. He wants to learn, he wants to be better. If he has a rough outing, I don't think it'll wear on him too much." "I'm not really looking at a finish line. I'm just looking at what that given day is. Today, it was my start. Tomorrow, it's to get ready for my next one and execute that day. Outside of that, nothing much."No one has shouted yet.
