MLB Note - Minnesota Twins Granite, Zack
Sep 24, 2017 - 7:45 AM LF Zach Granite became the first Minnesota player to pinch run and hit a home run in the same inning Saturday night. Granite pinch ran for 1B Joe Mauer when he reached second after singling to start the eight-run eighth. The Twins batted around and the rookie hit a three-run homer, the first home run of Granite's career. "I thought about hitting for him," manager Paul Molitor said. "It had come all the way around to Joe's spot after I'd run for him. I had options to put a right-handed bat up there but thought I'd stay with probably a little bit better, more comfortable defense -- and he hits a homer. That was a little bit of a surprise. He hasn't played a lot. He's got a couple walks the last week when he's got a chance to get up there. Just enough."No one has shouted yet.
