MLB Note - Toronto Blue Jays Biagini, Joe
Sep 24, 2017 - 7:45 AM RHP Joe Biagini is still looking for his first win since June 21 after taking the loss Saturday against the New York Yankees. He had a 1-0 lead before New York 1B Greg Bird hit a three-run homer and the Yankees went on to win 5-1. He allowed three hits, four walks and three runs while striking out three in five innings. He is 2-11 with a 5.75 ERA in 17 career starts, all this season. He is 1-1 with a 4.26 ERA in six relief appearances this season after being used in relief last season. He is 0-6 in his past eight starts. "He definitely had his fastball going early and we tried to keep that going as long as we could," C Raffy Lopez said. "He lost it a little bit so we had to try use more of his other pitches. He still did a good job. The cutter we were trying to go up and in (to Bird on the three-run homer in the fifth) and it was middle in and he put a pretty good swing on it. The fifth inning maybe he got a little tired. A hot day in late September, a guy who is trying to get extended out as a starter. It's not easy to do, going from a reliever to a starter in one year."No one has shouted yet.
