MLB Note - New York Mets Syndergaard, Noah

Sep 24, 2017 - 7:45 AM RHP Noah Syndergaard made his long-awaited and ultimately brief return to the Mets on Saturday night, when he was activated from the 60-day disabled list and threw a scoreless first inning in the Mets' 4-3, 10-inning loss to the Nationals. The outing was the first in the majors for Syndergaard since he tore his right lat while pitching against the Nationals on April 30. The Mets' plan was to limit Syndergaard to one inning regardless of pitch count and they didn't deviate from that even when he threw only five pitches in the first. Syndergaard retired SS Trea Turner on a lineout to right, gave up a single to LF Jayson Werth and induced 2B Daniel Murphy to hit into a double play. Syndergaard was relieved to start the second inning by RHP Matt Harvey, who made his first professional relief appearance. The Mets aren't sure if Syndergaard, who made only two official rehab appearances in the minor leagues prior to Saturday, will make one more start before the season ends. Syndergaard is 1-2 with a 3.18 ERA in six starts this year.
