MLB Note - Cincinnati Reds McGuire, Deck
Sep 25, 2017 - 8:55 AM RHP Deck McGuire will start Tuesday's game at Milwaukee. McGuire has not allowed an earned run in his four appearances since being recalled from Double-A Pensacola. He is replacing RHP Rookie Davis in the rotation. Davis was shut down due to a hip issue. McGuire was 9-9 with a 2.79 ERA in 28 starts at Double-A. "He makes the most sense to start right now," said Reds manager Bryan Price. "It's an opportunity to see what kind of fit he'll be moving forward. He's got the full arsenal. He's a strike thrower, controls the running game. Showing some competitiveness." McGuire said he's not relying on any one pitch to get outs, which has been a key for him. "I've been challenging people and throwing all four pitches for strikes," he said. "Any time you get the opportunity to pitch in the major leagues, it's a big deal."No one has shouted yet.
