MLB Note - Arizona Diamondbacks Goldschmidt, Paul

Oct 8, 2017 - 8:07 AM 1B Paul Goldschmidt is enjoying the opportunity to play in the playoffs again after a six-year drought. Goldschmidt made his major league debut late in the 2011 season and played in 48 games, then got a chance to play in the NLDS against the Milwaukee Brewers. He got into four games and had success, hitting .438 (7-for-16) with two homers and six RBIs. Now 30 years old, Goldschmidt is appreciating the opportunity to play in the postseason a little bit more. "I remember the first year, you don't know any better," he said. "It's just the first two months of the big leagues and all of a sudden you're in the playoffs. But I remember a lot of our veteran guys who had been in the big leagues eight, 10 years and they were like, 'Hey, realize how rare this is, how special this is, try to take it in. I did my best, but you can't really appreciate it until you've gone through the ups and downs like the last five, six years have been." Goldschmidt homered in the first inning Saturday in Game 2 of the NLDS against the Dodgers.
