MLB Note - Detroit Tigers Fiers, Mike
Dec 9, 2017 - 8:44 AM RHP Mike Fiers agreed to terms with the Detroit Tigers, the team announced Friday. The deal is for one year and $6 million, according to reports. Fiers, 32, pitched in 29 games, including a team-high 28 starts, in 2017 for the Houston Astros with an 8-10 record, a 5.22 ERA and 146 strikeouts over 153 1/3 innings. He struck out 8.57 batters per 9.0 innings last season, improving from his 7.15 mark in 2016. He tossed 150 or more innings for the third consecutive season. In seven major league seasons with Milwaukee (2011-15) and Houston (2015-17), Fiers owns a 42-47 record with a 4.15 ERA over 726 innings in 141 games, including 123 starts. Fiers tossed a no-hitter with the Astros on Aug. 21, 2015, against the Los Angeles Dodgers.No one has shouted yet.
