Twins look to finish weekend sweep of Royals
Apr 6, 2008 - 1:15 PM Kansas City (3-2) at Minnesota (3-3) 2:10 pm EDTMINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) - The Minnesota Twins try to complete a three-game sweep of the Kansas City Royals on Sunday.
Justin Morneau hit a three-run homer in the fourth inning and added an RBI double in the sixth as the Twins posted a 6-4 win on Saturday.
Minnesota sends Boof Bonser (0-1, 4.50 ERA) to the hill to close out the series. Bonser struggled in his season debut, getting tagged for eight runs and four hits in a loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Tuesday.
A 6-4 righthander, Bonser owns a 2-4 record with a 4.73 ERA in nine career meetings against the Royals.
Kansas City will counter with Brett Tomko (0-0, 4.50), who will be making his first start of the season. The righthander made a relief appearance against Detroit on Monday, allowing one run in two innings.
"I kind of went through the same thing last year with L.A," Tomko said. "I started off in the bullpen for the first couple of days. Then I made my start."
